Kids School Activities

I was making arrangements for my daughter’s return from a school trip to the beach. She would have to wait for me in the basement area. I picked her up and she began telling me about this boy she met at the beach. He was from awake Forest. He drank Miller Lite like her dad. I was taken aback hearing her talk about alcohol consumption. I didn’t like that she liked this boy that apparently drank. I asked if she drank alcohol on the trip. She said yes but only a couple cocktails the entire time. I wasn’t sure I was relieved considering how young she is but glad she was being open with me. She went on talking about this boy. He didn’t seem all that great to me. She said he wrote her love letters. I tried to ease her into the idea that it was only a beach fling and wouldn’t work out. She seemed to accept the notion. I warily inquired how intimate they had been and was relieved to hear her virginity remained intact. Next I had a school activity at my son’s school to attend. I go to his classroom to check in on everything then I head to the basement to get supplies and food. I get in the teacher’s fridge and there’s clearly not enough juice boxes and food for all the kids. I take up a few juices and ask the teacher if there’s more food somewhere else. She thinks someone has taken the food she had for the event. I offer to go to the grocery store. I come back and bring my husband too to help. Another mom comes with me to heat the chicken nuggets in the oven. I’m chatting it up with the other mom and when I open the oven to get the nuggets out I see I’ve put a box of wine in there too along with other things that don’t belong in an oven. I laugh it off and think who brought wine to a kid’s school event. Probably the mom I’ve been chatting with. I go to look for a cart to carry everything and run into a woman I know that had been homeschooling her kids. She tells me they’re trying public school again and I can borrow her cooler on wheels. I take the cooler, pack it up, and take stuff to the classroom. I go to return the cooler and go into a classroom where the woman is observing her kid’s class. I join her and we chitchat. Then there’s a Sonny and Cher performance where they are holograms in the classroom. It was pretty enthralling to watch. I realize I’ve been in there way too long but then the cooler is dirty so I want to clean it. I go in the hallway where there’s a wall of sinks and begin rinsing the cooler. Students are changing classes and so for the woman to observe another class. She points to the room she’ll be in. I rinse the cooler and leave it on the edge of the sink to drop dry. A few kids are using the sinks. A boy points to a tumbler left on the sink inquiring if it’s someone’s. When nobody claims it he picks it up then walks quickly away. I notice the cooler is gone. I call out after the boy but he ignores me. I chase after him and catch up to him. I take the cooler back from him and go to the classroom to return it. I’m finally headed back to my son’s classroom and the party is over. I try to explain all the things that happened but I feel liked I’ve failed by missing the party.
