Someone said they liked me?

I was in a school, what looked like my middle school hallway. A kid from my high school class (JY) came up behind me and said “I’m not gonna hide it anymore. I like you”. And I said something like “I don’t like you, I’m not even straight.” And he said “come on, we can make it work.”
