Hardware store gender identity argument

While at the hardware store, shopping for some unknown item with my intellectually disabled day habilitation client, I somehow had to explain that “god made more than just men and women, he made men that grow up feeling like they are women and women that grow up feeling like they are men and people that don’t feel good calling themselves either” after she asked a stranger what their gender was “are you a man or woman?” And they said “neither”. I told her that in this day and age, respecting gods love means doing our best to understand and accept people who are different than us. She seemed to understand but then another shopper began to argue with me and I had to explain what a “TERF” is and my client seemed generally disturbed so I pointed out that this person is not being community appropriate but we need to show them compassion because they have different beliefs.
