I went to my brother’s birthday party. For some reason it seemed like he was older than me now. A bunch of rich kids he knew were invited. When I got there I linked up with some of the girls I knew. We had heard the party would include competitive games so we wanted to stick together, as the boys looked extra menacing that day. After we had all been there a while, my brother’s friend announced that we would form teams and that each team would be allotted a small amount of resources. The goal was to steal as many resources as possible from other teams while surviving in this huge arena. They were basically making us fight each other Hunger Games style while my brother and his buddies watched on. What’s more is that after the game was over, those of us that remained would have to take this day to our graves or be hunted down. My team ran all over the arena, stealing resources and being stolen from in turn—trying hard not to get killed by the boys who took the game too seriously. At one point we found ourselves stranded in the middle of a lake, with an enemy team on both sides—waiting for us. Several of my teammates were eliminated, but I managed to stab a few goons and escape. From then on I hid until the game was called. When it was over, I rejoined the party at the pavilion to get some food. I noticed I was being watched buy a guy who had also survived. He kept following me around the party. I didn’t like the idea of confronting him, so I stayed in crowded areas. My opportunity to leave came when my dad showed up with a present for my brother.
