Repopulate

There was some ship with only a few humans left on it but some really long, weird alien thing that kinda looked like a giant parasite that they worshipped and claimed could repopulate the human race. It would choose one human on the ship to impregnate and, if the human 'failed' (however that worked) it would wipe all of them out and start anew.
