Colored contacts

So I was in a musical at my school and part of my costume involved wearing these colors contacts for literally no reason. They were shaped like eggs when you crack them into a pan and the yolks were the iris. I kept asking people “am I supposed to put these in over my actual contacts??” And nobody could give me a straight answer so I put one in over my real contact. The other one I kept trying to get in but it would just hurt when I got it so I gave up. Then I ran out of time to put on my costume and somehow there was a cafeteria involved but I have no idea why.
