Cleaning an abandoned building

It was my birthday, and a bunch of my old high school friends (many of whom I haven’t spoken to in over 20 years) all joined me to play a video game virtually. I can’t remember much from it, but it kind of reminded me of a very realistic version of Among Us. ~ later ~ I was cleaning up the house that the video game took place inside (somehow it had a physical location, even though it was a video game). The place looked gutted, almost abandoned. There was a large atrium in the center where dim, cloudy daylight illuminated the shady concrete walls and columns that faded deeper into complete darkness. I picked up pieces of trash lying around the lit atrium, and then went outside. I started watering all the lawns on the block with a long garden hose. One lawn was oddly shaped; it was stacked up about chest height near the sidewalk in the front corner of the lot, and then it tapered down quickly. It sort of resembled a wave of grass. As I watered it from the sidewalk, it was so steep the water just flowed away and couldn’t really absorb into the soil. Then I noticed lots of water rushing past my feet along the curbside. The water continued in a small stream along the sidewalk for several blocks. This can’t be good, I thought to myself. That’s when I looked up to see the next house on the block had water spewing out the cracks in the siding, at least 8 ft up the walls! I dropped my hose and ran toward the house, but just as I approached the front door, the water stopped. I thought, there must be someone else addressing this, so I walked back to the house I was cleaning. Back in the abandoned video game house, I started picking up more trash. I walked down a hall that lined the atrium, with only concrete columns separating me from an overgrown garden of tangled vines and tall grass. Then I heard it. A man’s voice, so deep in pitch that it was almost inhuman. It rumbled loudly, echoing and reverberating through the concrete structure. “GO BACK TO SLEEP!” It said in a haunting tone. I froze, completely chilled by the notion that someone was here, silently hiding in this shadowy abandoned building.
