Creepy Underground Maze

I don't know why, but in my dream there was a legend that said that once a year a portal would open up underground and if you made it to the end of the maze without getting caught, you would get something. So me and someone else went into this cave. I just remember walking through the semi-dark tunnels when all of a sudden a bunch of people in costumes came through a doorway. There were some dressed as medieval fools and jokers and some were dressed as if they were going to a masquerade ball. They were all dancing and somehow I knew they were people who had gotten lost down there trying to make it to the end. I don't remember what happened after that.
