Possession

Hate to start with a nightmare, but just had a vivid rager. Our entire world was basically taken over by an evil entity that permanently consumed the individual identities, mind, and soul of everyone who looked into the eyes of someone else it had already possessed. After trying and failing to protect everyone I love, and watching them end up effectively worse than dead, I ended up being the only person to escape, only to end up in the next world it was preparing to conquer, an island-based mix between the Inca empire and Atlantis, where people already viewed the entity as an emperor but hadn't been dominated yet, and swimming desperately from island to island trying to raise a rebellion against it.
