Let Me In

It was a cold evening. Darkness enveloped the perimeter as the skies pour down lightly due to the typhoon and power outage. Father, mother, and I were in the kitchen. We just finished eating dinner and the plates were already at the sink. We were just sitting and talking, in front of us is our marble table. Suddenly, I heard someone knocking. It was an unfamiliar voice of a man. He said, "Ma, papasukin mo ako (Mom, let me in)." There were three of us siblings, however, my brother went somewhere far to work. I sense fear and danger, but it was probably a natural instinct. I opened the wooden back door confidently because there is still a screen door, which is locked, before someone could enter. It was so dark, and I couldn't see clearly. I said in front of the door, "Sino ka, (Who are you)," but no one replied. I realized that the voice was not coming from the back door and that there was really no person there. I came rushing to the wooden front door. I peaked through the side of the curtain that is covering the window beside the door to make sure that there is really a person. I saw a portion of his shadow and I called back to my mother and told her to hurry, but my parents wouldn't rush. I peaked again through the window, this time I fully opened the curtain to shed some light on the outside. I saw a relatively thin and tall man. My brother is not thin, so I suppose it was not him. The man was with someone whom I suppose was an old woman. As my father walks towards the front door, I approached him. He handed me money (probably 20 Pesos) and told me that my sister and I buy something, so I went to my sister's bedroom, woke her up, and told her. As we were about to go out, my father is talking to the two people. The old woman is already a few steps inside our living room, while the man is still outside. I woke up.
