In my dream, I was walking along a narrow inlet where there was soft, white sand beneath my feet. I was behind a man who was behind his companion, a woman. I was behind them for a few moments, wanting to pass, not wanting to be rude. Finally, I said, “Hi…excuse me…” They we’re both average height and in good shape, and naked. Even though I said excuse me, neither of them could move out of the way, because on the right side there was some barrier I couldn’t name or see. On the left was some water. I passed them on the left, walking through the water, which was clear and only a few inches deep. My mood changed. When I was behind them, I was impatient and anxious. When I passed them, I was relieved and started to feel emotionally lighter. I felt like I could actually relax. Suddenly I felt like swimming, even though I can’t swim. Scene changed. I found myself in an alcove with the same type of sand and water. There was a wall where people congregated and left their belongings, getting ready to enjoy the water. I wanted to swim. I tried to swim, alternating the movement of my opposite limbs: left arm/right leg, right arm/left leg. I had no idea how to move my head. One old man observed me and didn’t say anything. Ana appeared among other people I didn’t know. There was also a tall, muscular man there. Ana and I both noticed him. I suggested Ana walk up to him and ask him if he could teach us to swim. It didn’t take much coaxing. I overheard my friend say she was Ana from the Bronx, and that I was Lisa from Brooklyn. What was that about? I’m from the Bronx, too. I’ll have to ask her later. The muscular man agreed to teach us how to swim. He told his friends he’ll be back in a while. I walked a little behind them, pretending to not be ready yet, giving them some “getting to know each other” privacy. Dream ends.
