Just woke up from a dream that we were at the skating rink. It was all-skate and it was a good session. I don’t think I saw one person fall. A maintenance man or construction worker started setting up scaffolding and hanging tarps in the middle of the one side of the rink and we had to skate between it. It kind of caused a bottle-neck, so I decided to take a break. Skated over to a table where my friend Mark was sitting. We were chatting and I noticed a guy with an 80’s mustache, hat, glasses, and a baseball jacket cam-cording with an old VHS recorder. At some point I complimented him on his camera and said how I should get one myself. Very nostalgic. He then stood up, handed the camera to a man standing behind him. Then he pulled out a rifle with a scope out of a bag, took a few steps forward and aimed. There were a lot of people sitting around, but none of us really comprehended what we were witnessing. He aims for about two long seconds and pulls the trigger. He resets the action and takes one final shot. The man on the other side of the scaffolding drops behind the tarp. The sniper puts the rifle away and laughs about how hard it was to pull off this job with all the glair in the scope from the colorful flashing lights. He then wants to see the instant replay on the camcorder, so he tells the man recording to rewind it back. He looked through the viewfinder of the vintage camcorder and my dream shows me what he is seeing… We see the back side of the man aiming the rifle to the left of the frame and the man working on the scaffolding on the right side of the frame and kids skating around and in between the scaffolding. We can only see the top of the construction man’s head, because the scaffolding and tarps are in front of him. It is hard to tell if the first shot missed completely or maybe hit the warn-yellow hard-hat the worker had on. After the second shot, the man’s body went limp and fell behind the scaffolding. The grainy footage skips as if to reveal previously recorded footage. We are transported to a large concert venue in the 80’s, and there is a hairband performing on stage. The lead singer and one of the metal guitarists performing look at each other, nod, and smile while rocking out. Next the singer, letting the guitarist do a solo, began walking down the wide black steps toward the large crowd. This is when the sniper takes two shots, taking out both bandmates! [STOP] The man in the ball cap and jacket hands the camera back to the other guy, puts on his tinted glasses, and walks out of the skating rink. We kept waiting to hear sirens, but it was taking a very long time for the police to arrive. There were kids who continued skating slowly around the rink, looking at the lifeless body on the ground every time they would pass. I could not see it from where I was. I could only see some girls turning their head in the general direction of where the man was lying as they nearly trip over their own skate as they somewhat slide by. Then I woke up.
