I was a guest at a wedding that was in a mall. It was an all-white wedding, everyone was wearing white dresses and some women even wore bridal dresses. I couldn’t tell who the bride was. There was also a man sitting at a little table giving autographs. I got close and saw a sheet listing his books, the only one I recognized was Raisin in the Sun. I wanted his autograph but the only thing I had on me was a quarter. I asked if he could sign the quarter and he did. While he signed I noticed a small sign on the table that said $25. I hadn’t realized the autographs were not free. “Do you take Venmo?” I asked him. “No,” he started. “We can talk about it later at dinner,” he offered, smiling at me. “Okay,” I said, walking away. I started searching for an ATM. During this, some flowers released spores into a man’s face. He started to transform into a crazed monster. He started killing people. I escaped into the mall and into a McDonalds. I looked everywhere for an ATM but couldn’t see anything. Finally I asked the manager if they had one. He pointed to a nearby corner. “It’s right there, what are you, blind?” I looked and saw a small ATM with no signs on it or near it. I felt embarrassed and decided to lie to redeem myself. “Actually I am, I’m legally blind.” The manager approached me and was apologetic. “Oh no, I’m sorry. Here let me bring you to it.” He walked with me to the ATM. On the way I walked into a table to play up the legally blind act. “How is a blind kid allowed alone at the mall?” he asked me. “I’m not a kid, I’m almost 30,” I responded angrily. We were at the ATM now so he walked away. I put in for $64. A woman was now waiting behind me. The machine printed out my receipt and I noticed it added on an $18 fee for “interest.” “Look at this!” I yelled in anger to the woman behind me. “$18 interest!” “Oh fuck that,” she said. She then walked away, no longer wanting to use the ATM after that. The monster had caught up to everyone who had ran into the mall. He was killing people again. When he spotted me he didn’t want to kill me. It was like he was interested in me, he thought I was something special. He pulled me into a bedroom where we had sex. Afterwards he handed me something and left. I looked at the object in my hand. It was a lottery ticket with all the winning numbers matching. The grand prize was $80,000. I was so excited. I went back to my car. I put the lotto ticket in my car door pocket. At this point the police had detained the monster. They approached my car and started putting police tape all around it. They were gonna take it in. I went back to try to grab my lottery ticket. “I gotta cash this,” I said out loud. “Yeah, there’s no way that’s gonna work,” one of the officers told me. “It’s not genuine since he used his powers. That’s not a true win,” she explained. There was a flash forward to maybe 5-10 years in the future. The man who was the monster had been cured, and he had turned back to his real human self. He still had a fondness for me. We were talking on a sidewalk. He asked me what I did with my lottery winnings. “Oh, you know, bought a car,” I lied, not sure what to say.
