(2) The Rainbows

This is the second dream of three dreams I had in one night. My family and I (minus my dad which isn’t unusual) are driving in the old family car we recently got rid of in real life. We are on a windy mountain road with a dinky little guardrail overlooking a giant cliff. I am in the passenger seat, my mother driving, my sister behind me, and my brother behind my mom. The sky is black with ominous clouds and thunder and snow and hail and every bad weather all at once. I suddenly see this bright white light and look past my mother to see this huge parting of the clouds. Within that block of sunshine way over on the horizon and parallel to the ground is a crescent moon with a rainbow halo glowing brilliantly, on either side of the moon is an orb surrounded by three planets each, and from the orbs this rain of mist was falling to the earth. It’s hard to describe but the aesthetic is like a mix between Native American mythological imagery and a heavy metal album cover about the end of the world. My sister and I, true to real life, instantly pull out our phones to take a picture. We can’t get good angles though because we are both on the wrong side of the car and by then it’s too late and the car has turned too far to even see the thing. Occasionally when looking back we see a glimpse of the glowing rainbows. My mom takes her eyes off the road to turn around and look for the rainbows just as a turn is coming up ahead. I think to myself, “Great, another dream about falling off a cliff.” We smash through the guardrail but no one is screaming. I feel alone and the whole world is black until the sensation of violently falling wakes me up.
