I was riding a really muddy horse towards an indoor arena, my instructor looked over and said “good luck getting him clean!” In a really condescending way but I just replied happily that he’d be clean in no time. Once inside the arena there was another girl riding a really big fancy amazing looking horse, and she WOULD. NOT. STOP. BRAGGING. She just went on and on, not-so-subtly dropping hints about how brilliant she and her horse were, winning a 1st place at HOYS (Horse Of The Year Show), being bred from the purest bloodlines, and how she was roped into this course through a sponsor of hers, it was apparently “a scary change riding in these..... conditions.... compared to what I am used to riding for the biggest Hollywood films and, huge events worldwide”. She was such an annoying little show off but when we actually started riding everything was way too difficult for her and her fancy horse to do, and she was an awful rider. When it was my turn my muddy little horse moved so beautifully beneath me and we started jumping through a course of fences with ease, almost feeling like we were flying over the huge jumps around the arena. It was a really magical feeling and everything else went away while we jumped, even the snobby little princess :)
