Open Mic in South Carolina

I was at a restaurant/lounge in Conway, SC and they were hosting an open mic night. I brought my guitar with me because I practiced a few rock songs on there. The host of the open mic told everyone who was performing that due to the number of people there they were only allowed to play one song. After the man before me finished his song, he said, “Angelica, you can come on up now.” As I stand up, my guitar strings break all of a sudden. I told the man that my guitar broke and that I couldn’t play the song I wanted. He told me, “Don’t worry, we have a piano in the back.” I was happy to hear that, so I walk to the front of the restaurant and quickly decide on a song to sing. I decided on singing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by the Backstreet Boys. In the center of the performance area, there was a circular keypad piano instead of a real one. I had to play that, and I was somewhat nervous that I was gonna mess up some of the notes. I gave it a go anyway. I stood up behind the microphone and introduced myself. I said, “Hi everyone! My name is Angelica and I’m from Clark, NJ, a place several hours away from here. I’m so happy to be back and perform in the beautiful city of Conway. I will be singing Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by the Backstreet Boys.” I walked over to the circular keypad piano and started playing. Throughout the song, I messed up a few chords here and there, but I continued singing as if no one noticed. I made it through the whole song and I got a big applause. Later on, the restaurant played my performance on the TVs and I was very happy with the sound of my voice. My singing reminded me of Cher and how resonant her singing is.
