Cat escape room - ghosts

It was like an escape room thing, except you go into this room/building and wear special glasses that let you see the holograms. So like, VR basically, but you can’t take them off or you lose the game. Maybe more like a holodeck, but you did need glasses/goggles. And for the first part you’re competing individually, but then eventually you start competing as teams. Anyway, the concept was about spirits and stuff and I knew going in it was supposed to be spooky and stuff so I prepared myself. And it starts out and it’s this girl talking - I forget about what, I think just her life - and you see her black cat appear in the room and you follow it around and stuff trying to solve the mystery between what it’s doing and what the narrator voice is saying. And eventually you realize the cat is dead, it’s the spirit. So I’m like crawling around, fascinated by this hologram because it looks so lifelike. And I’m always cautious to walk past mirrors because when you look into them your reflection is of the girl who is narrating and it’s kinds of unsettling. Anyway, at some point the cat burrows way deep into a closet and meows incessantly. So I figure I must have to help it out. So I reach in and realize...I can grab this cat. Like I can feel it and pet it and grab onto it. Weird. And just as I’m getting it out it claws the heck out of me and bites me so hard but o refuse to let go. It’s like crushing my fingers with its needle teeth and then just latches onto my arm before finally letting go and running away. And at this point I realize my arm is literally bleeding. I can feel it and I can see it. Anyway, the game continues for awhile until at some point I feel completely stuck. I have this game objective to do a specific thing, I think like attending a conference or something, but it doesn’t take place for ten whole days. And there doesn’t seem to be a way to fast forward the time in the game, you literally would just have to play for 10 straight days, waiting around, playing with the mean cat. So the thought occurs to me...I...I have to kill myself in the game...I have to become a spirit to unlock the next level. But like, half of me is afraid because everything has felt so real, what if when I jump off this building I am actually jumping off a building? But nah I was too into the game apparently. Too competitive, and I trusted that they wouldn’t let it be that dangerous. So I ran and just leaped out the window. And when I hit the ground I was in a totally new place, a “waiting room” for the next level where we start competing as teams. The spirit world! But first I have to collect the necessary clues or whatever. It’s less clear beyond here, but my group was pitted against this other one and we now each had our identical apartments in buildings facing each other from across a street. So it became like a little war across the gap as we flung projectiles back and forth trying to distract each other from the puzzles. I don’t exactly remember what all happened there but eventually we wound up in this dimly lit like pub or something where all the teams remaining were. I think like 4 or 5 teams maybe. And our team is staring at our next assignment and we have to all wear sclera contacts for a MONTH. And we’re like ??? Uh we are mot staying here for a month. Nor are we wearing contacts. So we’re sitting there debating what to do. And I overhear the team next to us, equally perplexed, because their assignment was to get face tattoos. Lol. We knew that these couldn’t possibly be real assignments, no way would they put us in danger like that for just a game, but we weren’t sure what the *actual* secret task was supposed to be. I woke up before we escaped the escape room :( we were so close. And now I’ll never know if we won.
