Why would you get in trouble for changing the thermostat

I was at a friends house and there was a guy who was hiding in her room and I went in there and tripped over him and made him trade his chapstick for mine. I found out he was hiding because he didn’t wanna play in the baseball game going on and I had to go get the field ready by putting mats on it. My teacher was there and he kept telling me I was doing it wrong. I went back to my friends house and it was so hot so I tried to change the thermostat but you had to wear these weird gloves and use this glue stuff and click this thingy. I couldn’t figure it out but her little sister ran up and I hid the stuff because I was scared I would get in trouble. I snuck the stuff back when they were watching a movie and went to go play basketball with a white ball but I sucked.
