HELP?

So this isn't a dream but I haven't had any dreams since January, (none that I ever remembered), and I've started to try those reality checks so I can lucid dream, but I can't lucid dream if I don't dream, this is weird and maybe not possible but, can anyone give me tips on how to dream?
