An abandoned mall has been turned into a working model of a mall. Empty storefronts are decorated and filled with actors to look like a working mall. It’s part of an art piece. There is a small laundromat, a welcoming restaurant, a fancier restaurant, an English pub and an Irish pub (they dislike one another), a phone case kiosk with bad lighting, a subway, and an Indian import shop. At a bookstore I buy a book by the creators of the work. I expect it to be funny, but it’s mostly policy essays. In a field, I get hit in the head by a foam axe that is thrown by a baseball player. The false mall employs 52 workers for one day. It’s not clear what the difference is between a real shop and a functioning shop staffed by actors.
