My grandma took me and my friend (let’s call him Nathan) to ‘shark day’ at our local swimming pool. After me and Nathan had got changed we went to the pool where the lady that owns the sharks says something along the lines of “you will spend some time next to a shark to get used to it” so she guided me and Nathan to separate capsules that were right next to each other. in the capsules we were in black water and were lying down facing upwards with a hole to breathe through. I got a shock when I looked to my left, There was a huge Mako shark right next to me, it felt as though it’s huge beady black eyes were staring into my soul. I couldn’t take my eyes off the shark. When they let me out of the capsule they guided me and Nathan to the main pool where there were lots of other people we were told that we had to swim around and try not to get touched by a shark. Everyone was panicking and swimming around and I did the same, I let out a small sigh of relief when I saw that they were only small sharks and couldn’t hurt us if they tried. That relief was blown away when walls were put up in the middle of the pool the woman that guided us to the capsules screamed “EVERYBODY SWIM AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN” so we all swam, pushing the person in front of us to get away, I was behind the whole crowd of people in the water. As soon as I looked beside me I saw what I think was a black-tip reef shark and it snapped at me. I swam for what felt like ages until the walls were took away and a man in a wetsuit said, something like “you can probably tell by now that these animals are no threat to you” (but in a longer explanation) then when he was done talking we started to pet the sharks, I was with the mako from before but I was no longer scared of it. When I woke up I instantly typed up things like shark attacks and what causes shark attacks. Turns out that they actually only attack people when they mistake them for seals..
