The dream began by me walking a dog in the rain along the street curb. It was raining very very hard. I then found myself in the basement of a house I lived in. (It was not my house in my woken state). It was still raining very hard. My wife and two child were there with me in the basement. I noticed a large wet puddle on the floor and the ceiling was leaking down water heavily, like really flowing hard. My wife and I panicked a bit. Thinking the rain was coming thru the roof I proceeded up the stairs to the first floor. There were three large window that were open and rain water was pouring in the first floor. My wife was still panicking. My wife and I began to take the stairs to the top floor of the house when I suddenly realized this was not real it was just a dream. I then declared to my (dream figure) wife that it was just a dream, hoping it would calm her down but to know avail. The dream kept going a bit I must have lost my lucidity and the dream soon ended. I now recall after the dream ended I was in that in between state of sleeping and waking. I just laid very still on my side hoping I would fall back to sleep. I did after a very short period of time and I began dreaming again. I was still in the dream house but now I was sitting with a dream character who I did not know. We talked a bit but I don’t remember what we discussed, suddenly became lucid again in this second dream and began to declare this was a dream we were in. The dream then soon ended. Then once again I found myself in that halfway state awake and asleep. Again I laid still hoping to fall asleep, I focused on my breathing to help to fall asleep again. I soon did this time I was standing by a door, I think I had my hand on the door knob. The door was partly open but very difficult to move. It seemed like I was trying to open it wider but could not. I then awoke. A few notes: I’ve read several books on lucid dreaming and by using suggested technics I have attempted to experience them. Very few times I was successful they seem to happen at random. I cannot remember the last lucid dream I had. At any rate this was the first time I was able to continue the dream soon after semi waking from sleep. I did read that to do this you need to lay still and not stir and move around. This I did and it seemed to work. In fact it worked twice last night. Also I should not have declared to any DF that I was dreaming all this. Df’s cannot comprehend this and often you either become non-lucid, the dream ends or you awake. I believe somewhat that the story of the dream and its content is somehow symbolic of the occurrences in our “waking” life. I try not to take apart my dreams very much and analyze them for meaning. However, I find the last part of this dream with the door halfway open and hard to move interesting. I would have to say this might symbolize my life’s journey and how it fact I’m trying to awaken from my current life’s dream. After all - Life is but a Dream
