I dreamt I was being shown around a natural spot in a location I'd never been in. I didn't have any distinct reason why I would get this impression but I was being shown by the host of one of those food shows with a few friends. This type was all about catching it and then cooking it. The first part of the adventure was swimming our way to where we would catch the fish. It was a bright sunny day and the water was pleasantly cool. I swam around a bit and toddled off on my own for a smidge. I floated around and picked my way about, observing the rocks underfoot and enjoying the reflection of the sunlight on the water. After about 5 minutes off this it was time to move on. She began to lead us to the spot and we came upon this small dam. It wasn't terribly high - maybe 10 feet. It was as much about adventure as it was about food so I knew we were to jump off it. The water was still and deep, and I felt invigorated because I would not normally do this but I was actually looking forward to it. We stood there looking down and our host was to go first. She was a middle aged woman, fair skinned and red haired. Dark red. I was holding on to a tree branch that hung nearby so I could watch her jump into the water below. She stood on the edge of this simple, concrete dam and just stepped off the edge. I watched her fall, her body straight and vertical anticipating the water below. Right as her feet were about to enter the water, the worst thing happened. She didn't go out far enough on her jump. The dam actually sloped out a bit beneath the water. Almost in slow motion I watched her left leg connect with the concrete starting with her foot. She was rigid on the way down so when they connected I watched her leg crumple almost like it was being rolled back on itself but too tightly. It was being crunched. I saw the water turn red with blood and she wasn't moving. The sudden pain had knocked her unconscious. I remember thinking, "No no no no", not knowing what to do. She was floating motionless. I wanted to jump down to help her but I was afraid the same thing would happen to me. Ineffectually I hung over the dam knowing that I wouldn't be able to but still trying to reach her from up there. The guy that was there ended up jumping down and making sure she stayed above water. I don't know how I got down but the last thing I remember was seeing her being loaded on to a gurney headed to an ambulance as I was swimming ashore through the red water.
