Deer demon

I was driving in some sort of woodland/shrubland in a old Jeep with my boss and 2 other employees. We were some sort of military-ish brigade tasked with managing some area out in the sticks during ""blackouts"". Blackouts were these weird celestial moments that was expected to become more and more frequent on this particular day. During a blackout, the world would suddenly cut harshly from bright daylight to a misty twilight, and all electronics would instantly fail. Other than movement becoming slightly affected and slowed down, these were the only effects that were noticeable. As we are driving through the long roads to get to our destination, a few minor blackouts of less than 10 seconds occur. The car slowly rolls to a halt as the engine dies as each occur, only to restart fine as soon as day snaps back. I'm wary of this route as there are deer that jump in the road, running intentionally to get hit. I keep a close eye on the edge of the road when I spot a deer corpse on the right ditch in the road. I think "Fuck" and man the gun, trying to shoot the corpse before a disaster goes down. Im not sure why, but there character I was living knew something had to be done fast. Just as I try to pull the trigger, a blackout occurs and the car slowly rolls to a stop right adjacent to this corpse. The guns don't work anymore, and the corpse just disappeared in a blink of the eye. We all get out the car for whatever reason, perhaps it's not safe to be around electronics during a blackout. I hear something in a very deep smooth voice "I'm glad you decided to meet me". We are huddled on side of road away from car trying to watch into the woods at all angles. My friend opens his mouth to say something, manages to get out a word fragment in a hushed scared tone, then simply disappears. We hear sudden screaming in agony as he reappears deeper into the woods. I sprint to him and he turns to me. I look over and his cheek and temple and maybe more had been ornately carved at the skin level. Patterns were carved deep across the right half of his face, and even his ear was gone. He falls silent after a bit, and another friend disappears only to suddenly reappear screaming. For a second I see a large indeterminate mass of thin orange glowing tentacles or spikes covering a body that moved with a configuration of limbs and joints both alien and familiar. A head vaguely like a deer propped up somewhere in the ensemble, the eyes intelligent and sharp. We had spread out in these dark woods in the panic, and I had popped a glow stick to create some light, scanning the dark trees and mounds. That was end of dream!
