The train wound across the continent and I got lost more times than I could count. But it didn’t matter so long as I grabbed the rails before it flew away. That all changed when the car picked up speed and I was left tumbling into the hills of the countryside as the sun relinquished its day. This is when I found myself at his doorstep. And we had not a word shared between us. Yet still he tried to help me find my way home. Until the night stretched over us— a somber pillow fort and he asked me to stay forever to make a new home. He loved me more than words could ever say. And that somehow hurt more than leaving him with the next train into sunny U.S.A
