It all started with me. I noticed that snap chat had a ‘special story’ for me and in the icon was three faces (let's call these people), Dan, Reid (dude I liked), and Fiona. I clicked on it and I don't quite remember what it was about but I suddenly wished that I could be there but merely to watch as a fly on the wall. Well away I went, the wind sort of sucked me into the story, or as close to the house where it, this cool Snapchat story, was taking place. I was outside of a house, like a country house of sorts and it was on a grassy hill with a pinkish orangish sunset behind it. It looked like a sorbet sunset. Outside of the house stood a mighty dark green maple tree with pink flowers and I appeared floating 15 ish feet away from it. As I drifted closer to the tree I saw that there was a handmade single person swing attached to one of the tree’s branches. It was attached to a gnarled branch by two yellowing ropes with pink flowers from the tree intertwined in the rope’s braid. I floated up to the window and peered inside, to the scene from the video I had watched. I had a moment of clarity as I floated there and I realized that I was wearing a flowy yellow dress and my hair was super short and curly. The wind blew at me and as the leaves gently floated by me I felt at peace, so much so that I seemed to have melted through the house into the room with the three people. They were sitting on a mattress next to a king sized bed, they were simply there sitting in a circle and talking. I felt like I had intruded on a moment that I shouldn't have had and that the calm atmosphere would have certainly been broken as I entered. However it was not so, they still sat there and laughed quietly, so I figured I would settle down near them so they would see me. They paid me no mind so I looked down at myself and found that I couldn't because I was invisible and unable to speak for some reason. But I was fine with that, so I sat with them and tangled my legs underneath this sparse wool blanket that was on the mattress and hugged my legs to my chest. They talked about meaningless things but I glanced around at the dying rays of light shining through the window and onto the warm colored wood of the room, and I still felt at peace. I began to drift in the warm feeling, I felt so peaceful. Suddenly the guy laid down near my right leg, more specifically my knee and he sort of just rested his arm on it. I smiled, even though I was not an active participant in the scene, I felt like I was truly part of the group. The other two scooted closer and they simply rested there for a bit and while the other two started talking, the guy had the most perplexed look on his face. He looked at his arm and where it was resting and then looked into, what seemed to me, my own two eyes. But I was still invisible so there was no way he could have seen me. The other two glanced at him and slowly stopped talking until it was completely silent. My pulse skyrocketed, was I happy? Elated? Scared to be found out? Anxious? I don't quite know, all I do know is that I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. The two people to my left were staring at the guy in concern and he was shooting glances at where my eyes would have been, making it seem like he was staring straight at me. Eventually I had to move my leg, the one that was being used as an armrest, because it was cramping just a bit. Once it moved though, I realized that the guy could see the little lump that my leg made in the blankets. He looked down at it and… did nothing. He just kept staring at it and shooting furtive glance back up to me and the other two. The other two people there were also now realizing what was happening and the trio slowly blinked at one another. I couldn't take it anymore and I jumped up into the air and floated above them for a second. They seemed to sort of follow my movement with their eyes and I felt as if I had broken the magic of the moment with my quick and sudden movement so I hastily melted through the window and back outside of the house. I floated just outside the window and watched for their reaction. They were still staring at the spot where I had just been with somewhat awestruck expressions and unexpectedly, the guy who had been resting on me snapped his gaze to the window where I was looking im. So shocked was I, that I let out a gasp and dropped down and backwards from the window. My barefoot feet touched down on the dewy grass and I simply stood there with my arms out to try and catch my balance. Still, I fell backward on my butt and sat dumbfounded on the grass. I sheepishly peeked back up at the window to see it being slammed open by the main guy. He wore an expression of pleased and awestruck mixed together, and with his mouth agape and bright eyes looking at me, he let out a breathless laugh. To my knowledge I was still invisible which is why I was confused as I gave a warm smile back. I knew I could not stay long though so I looked behind me and floated upward again. I took a couple leaps backward through the air, and still smiling at the boy in the window, I slowed down and landed beneath the tree. It was weird, as if I was trying to show off to this boy even though I thought he couldn't see me. I turned from the house and prepared to fly away from the peace, but before that, I ran my hands along the bark of the tree. The wind began to pick up and blow towards the house, it rustled the branches of the big maple tree and let the pink petals of the flowers fall slowly to the ground. As the wind ruffled my hair, I let my eyes drift close and I was still. In that moment I allowed myself to fall onto the vine covered swing and revel in the moment. When I opened my eyes once again I saw the trio of people running towards me and the tree and instead of running like I had originally planned to, I did not move as they got closer. Instead, when they got close enough, I simply stood and embraced the ropes of the swing. Two pairs of eyes collectively followed the movement, however, the third pair of eyes stayed watching me. I stilled my movements and waved my arm at the other, however he still kept his eyes locked on mine. How he knew to look there, I will never know, but in doing so he gave me an idea. I slowly rocked the swing back and forth, jostling the branch and causing a new cascade of flower petals to come fluttering down on top of me. Some petals drifted to the earth, while some stuck to my clothing, outlining my frame, and giving me physical form. I dropped the swing and slowly walked towards him and smiled once more knowing that they all saw me, a shape made in the flower petals. As if he knew what were happening, the guy, with long strides, walked towards me, hands outstretched. The wind picked up once more and brought on another onslaught of flower petals to the direction of the house and that is when I made my discovery. I knew this boy, I knew that I knew him. From somewhere… A dream perhaps. A dream of a dream. And yet… When I stretched out my arms to hug him, to touch him, he gave a tiny little grin and opened his mouth to say something… and the dream ended.
