Attempted break-in and spontaneous party

I was in my apartment and it was late at night, past my usual bedtime. It must have been a Friday or Saturday evening after 11 or midnight. I heard an intruder trying to pick my locks to break in. There was enough noise in the hallway that I peeked outside my peep hole to confirm attempted break-in. I was frightened and called the cops. I watched outside the window until they appeared. In the meantime, I had put the chain on my door. I could tell the cops were here because the outside noise level dropped. I looked out the window and didn't see the cop car at first. Then I noticed it was parked on the sidewalk across the street, facing opposite the one-way parked cars. Three cops started to approach my building. It looks like someone stopped to ask them what was going on. There was a moment or two of conversation, and somehow the cops were convinced to leave. I was angry, as they did not even bother to come upstairs or even ask the base what was going on. They took the word of some stranger who did not even make the call. I think it was the super who told them that everything was OK. I picked up the phone and called the cops again. I heard a lot more noise in my hallway this time. It was a bunch of women. I looked outside of my peep hole again, and noticed that the burglar was not in sight. Suddenly I heard a familiar voice, and it was the woman who lives in the downstairs apartment. There were so many women present in the hallway, I felt safe enough to open my front door. I asked them what was going on, but in a friendly manner. One other woman I know by sight, but the others were faces I hadn't seen before. In a spontaneous moment, not in my character, I invited the whole gang of women inside my apartment. My kitchen had a completely different layout. I had a bunch of food on various counters. It looked like I was working on many different dishes and projects at the same time. One of the projects was some steak I had cut up, and it had been on the counter for a few hours. I made a mental note throw that away. The other project was white potatoes I meant to start peeling. I had a bunch of books on my dining room table, and a lot of women were looking at those books. One woman saw my vacuum cleaner and said that she needed a vacuum cleaner. I told her she can have it for $20. Another woman appeared from the back of the apartment and put something in her purse. I was curious as to what it was, and was mildly concerned that it may have been something stolen from me. Dream ends.
