On the Road Again

I'm walking on a familiar Road through an old forest to a Lake my family visited often when I was a child. It's a long road past gravel pits, cottages, construction crews. I remember each landmark as I pass. It's hot and dusty. I am very tired but it seems a shame to go back without seeing the Lake. I have little time and no reason to be here but nostalgia. There is a stranger who may be dangerous hiding behind the trees. A sudden movement and a wild horse runs across the road ahead of me into a small, sunken meadow on the other side. If only I could catch the horse and ride. I am so tired and my throat is soar from dryness.
