Remembering Through The Cards

Prenote: I wanted to write out my dream from last night before I fall asleep tonight. It’s pretty vague by now but I’ll do my best to describe it. I think writing this will help remember the dream. I’ve had many media related dreams in the past nights. One where I was playing a Lion King plug and play, another one where a Peter Griffin Frog had to fight for the death. I don’t really like neither Lion King or Family Guy but here they are in my dreams. And all these dreams have the same moods. The same colors. The same fantastical elements mixed with realistic elements. We’re on a ship, but it’s thousands of feet tall and there’s thousands of people rowing it. We’re on a water slide but we’re so high up planes might crash into us. They’re all strange but with bright colors and light hearted moods. This specific dream starts with a woman (or maybe not a woman, I don’t who they were) going to a castle and not knowing who she is. It’s so beautifully colored, it’s bright and pink and white and red, with green grass. And I remember she went here thinking she was playing some kind of card game, like Magic the Gathering. But she finds it’s more complicated than that. She also feels out of her body, she doesn’t know if she’s a man or a woman or maybe she does. So here she is in this castle, she’s made to wear this elegant dress. And slowly but surely she’s forgetting who she was before this. She marches through in a line of other people. Now it gets strange and vague. She’s in a room at a tea party and she says something that insults the people around her. They all yell at her and glare at her, and the next thing you know she’s playing the more violent part of the game. These two men with legs and no arms and bending over, and their bodies get more mutated and attached. They ask her “which one of us is better?” And every second she doesn’t answer they hurt her. It’s like a boss fight, except it’s more unsettling and I felt like I could feel her pain. The fire burning her skin from one man and the needle stabbing with the other. It makes me grimace. She then runs away instead of answering and everyone is yelling at her. Suddenly the castles starts on fire. Smoke and redness fills every room. She can’t get out because these soulless dolls and strange slithering creatures are blocking her path. Meanwhile everyone blames it on her. They all run out and leave her behind as she tries to cheat her way through the game. She jumps over the various stranger monsters, she feels like she’s being chased, she can’t jump out the windows because of the eyes gazing through them. She feels so trapped. Eventually she makes it out. And when she does everyone continues to berate her even more. Now fences are up and they won’t let her through. They approach her and show aggression towards her. She’s trying to remember who she is. She wants to tear the dress off. She finds herself meeting some people from the early years of life as she goes on her journey. As she does cards are collected. And we see them turning like a clock, like an animation, showing her life and what happened. She was dressed in rags, she lived on her own many times, she picked flowers, she ate honey, she lived freely. The last part of the dream I remember. She goes over many fences, meeting a few people, running from most. She comes across a tall, strong, big, muscular, and deep voiced creature. I can’t remember if it was some kind of gorilla or a bear. It was like an animal with a close to human body. This bear threatens her, he hates her for what she did, he wants to stop her. He tries to get her. But suddenly for some reason he sees her cards, he sees them moving. And the creature stops. He says he knows her. He didn’t recognize her. He sees the last card and sees that she doesn’t remember him. The creature becomes scared. While he is glad to see her he, he’s known her much of her life, he’s scared. “If you don’t remember me... I won’t existing.” That’s when I woke up. So I didn’t get to see what happened. I’m not sure if the person I saw in my dream was really a girl, maybe they weren’t. And I don’t know what the creature was to her in her life. So that kinda sucks.
