Vaping Intervention

I’m with my mom’s side of the family. My mom is casually complaining about her newest health issues and mentions that she’s been coughing up yellow blood. My grandpa (the one that’s been divorced from Grammie since my mom was a kid) is here and starts lecturing her about how that’s caused by her vaping. He says it as if he knows from experience, even though he doesn’t smoke. My Uncle John starts backing him up and it turns into a big family intervention. My aunt and Grammie have joined in the conversation. Grammie’s crying, which I think shows my mom that she really does care (something she has a hard time believing in real life). My mom seems to finally be accepting the help rather than her usual “I know…” and then continuing to do nothing to change. I want to ask her if she ever bought the tic-tacs (referring to a video I sent her the other day about ways to help you quit vaping), but I know she probably didn’t because she almost never follows through. Half the group has suddenly relocated to a small, empty store (it looks like it could be in the Walmart Neighborhood market plaza). I decide to leave back to our hotel that we’re apparently staying at. I’m suddenly back at the hotel and notice two guys following me. I try not to think much of it, but I’m nervous. I continue down the hall a little faster and they keep pace. Now I’m trying to inconspicuously speed walk, but they speed up too. I make it to my room, but I don’t want to waste time to dig around for my key so I immediately start knocking. I know my mom is in the room, but she’s probably sleeping, so I hope she hears me knocking. I start off by knocking normally, but I start knocking harder and faster knowing the guys are about to be around the corner. My mom opens the door just as they begin to approach me. I close the door behind me, but now it’s a sliding door and I can’t get the lock to work. I see through the frosted glass on the door that they’re still standing there, but I crack the door open to see if the lock has worked. I try about four more times and then realized there are two locked that cross over each other and they won’t work unless they’re both flipped. I finally get the door locked and turn to hug my mom. I tell her about the situation.
