I was at home in the kitchen with my mother and brother when the microwave started to spark. These sparks got more and more violent, and was green in colour. Mum said to leave the kitchen and leave it alone, and I said that I would call the fire brigade. These sparks by this point grew massive and engulfed the entire microwave and hit the surrounding areas. I call 999 and give them my name, address and alert them to the electrical fire. I then look out of the window and see a fire truck driving past, the siren then sounds as it speeds off down the road, presumably to turn around. My brother asks if it's stopping for us. I don't reply. Two fire trucks and a disaster response unit stop outside. This was my signal to return downstairs. I walk back into the kitchen. The fire has stopped but you can see the walls, counter and the unit itself burnt and black to a crisp.
