Chess but Deep

I was playing a game with friends where the base game was chess-like. But while we were playing chess, there was a story with mini games unfolding in the background. It was about racial inequality. Most of the characters were POC. The chess game was represented by a car chase. Our car was full of board games and there was a point where while driving we opened the boot and threw them at the car behind us one by one. There was also something about a mechanic where you combine star signs to give buffs to people.
