I was in Africa (where I currently am), and someone told me that Emanuel had said that I was like an elephant with a zoomed in perspective. In the dream this hit me like an epiphany and I was hyperventilating a little bit. It was a great realization. I started to expand my awareness in the dream to try and embody my full awareness. It made me feel ten times better and more present. I was walking around in complete awareness but still unaware I was dreaming. Later I found myself in the backseat of a car, I think driving to the airport to leave Zimbabwe. It seemed to be taking a long time. The guy driving was going extremely fast and accelerating. His car beeped as we flew by other cars that were leaving our lane to let him know how close he was cutting it. He just went faster and the cars beeping got louder and more rapid. Eventually I just thought this was insane. “I’m dreaming” I said. The driver slowly turned and stared right into my eyes like normal. I had a premonition we would crash and I knew I needed to maintain awareness the whole time. So we crashed and remained as aware as I could and ended up on the road with totalled cars and broken glass everywhere. I was still aware though that I was dreaming. I walked into the middle of the debris and there were a lot of people but there was the same guy from my last lucid dream (Kieth) and he tossed me something. When I caught it I looked and saw it was a small elephant sculpture. I went over to him and said something like “You just wanted me to practice expanded awareness! Now I get it.” “Congratulations, you win some money.” he said sarcastically “I don’t want your money.” I said. Then I woke up. What i’ve finally realized is that the main objective of dreaming is to achieve such a high level of awareness that you never become unaware that you’re dreaming. This is a practice for when you are awake and asleep. I have had other dreams where dream characters have applauded me when I declared “I am dreaming” in the middle of a dream. This directly corroborates everything i’ve read in “Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep” To really unlock the lessons of higher consciousness in dreaming, you have to be at a certain level of awareness all the time, like getting your fundamentals down before you’re ready for the real lessons.
