It was nighttime. My mom and I were walking on this buoyant boardwalk surrounding a huge lake with mountains all around. We were in Massachusetts, right near the coast of Cape Cod (which is strange because Cape Cod doesn’t have mountains). Anyways, we took the ferry to this remote location we were walking in and we were trying to find a place to stay. There was nobody in sight and the few stores and shops on the boardwalk were closed. The boardwalk extended at the center to some house, which was the central place people would stay and where the manager was located. The house stood at the edge of the boardwalk right in the middle of the lake. My mom and I were trying to find this house so we walked around the circumference of the lake on the buoyant boardwalk. I was amazed by the mountains in the distance. They looked so close but were further away than expected. Their caps had snow on top. The lake wasn’t tidal but I saw the ripples move back and forth, as if it was a bit rocky. I even saw a kayaker in the distance, all dressed in yellow with his yellow boat, navigating the waters. I was asking Mom where she thought these mountains were located. We predicted upstate NY or somewhere in Maine, although we still weren’t sure. It got desolate and pitch black, so I was a bit scared. Finally we approached the center home and the manager welcomed us in. She showed us around and asked where we were visiting from. We felt safe in there and were ready for the next morning.
