restaurant hamburgers

My ex and I were in a nice restaurant or pub, and we each ordered a burger. I asked for a lettuce wrap with my burger. While we were waiting, it dawned on me I didn't ask them to ensure the burger was free of cross contamination because I must eat gluten free. I walked up to the waiter or manager, and apologized for my mistake in placing my order. I said that I have to be gluten free. I offered to pay for the mistaken order, since it was my fault. I said I'll give it to a homelsss person on the street, if they can just wrap it to go for me. I think the server was moved by my gesture and mumbled about the actual cost of the burger not being that expensive and said he would give me a break on the cost of the burger, which I thought was a nice gesture, too.
