Checking Out A New Theatre With An Old Friend

I was with my family at the grand opening of a new theatre in my town. It was replacing the one that was previously demolished. We took our seats and an old friend of mine from school days was sat next to me. There was this weird warm up lady who told us all to stand up and then sit down if we were wearing this or wearing that. I continued standing even though according to what the woman said, I should have sat down. My friend nudged me to sit down.
