Visit to my grandfather

I and my father go to a certain place where my grandfather lives and works, in the countryside or mining area kind of place, not a city. I had a hunch it was a lab where he worked. When we reach the place, he wasn't there at the workplace having gone home for lunch we were told. So we waited for a while. The wait became longer than expected and I was v eager to meet him. It would be our first time Then after a while we saw a jeep coming negotiating the dirt road with ups and downs but my father said expect him to come by bicycle as I was straining to see the occupants in the vehicle. Then the vehicle arrived and stopped at the other side of the building and someone waved at us. I looked expectedly at my father, he said thats him. But we were standing a fair bit away and couldn't make out what he looked like.
