Uncle Gerry’s Nubs

It’s nighttime and I’m on some sort of field trip at an airport. I’m alone and looking for someone specific outside of a building when I turn to see an airplane taking off only a few hundred feet from me. I’ve never seen this so close and I find it to be terrifying yet fascinating… I go back to the group that I’m on the trip with. We walk through the airport’s museum, which slightly resembles the Daily Bugle office room that’s in the line for the Spider-Man ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It’s my wedding day and the ceremony is about to start. I’m going through the rows of guests and greeting everyone. I recognize some of my Aunt Bridget and Uncle Sam’s friends (they’ve been divorced for years in real life). One of the friends is supposed to be my aunt’s best friend from college. She hasn’t seen me since I was a little girl, and she tells me how crazy it is to see me all grown up now. I go down the next few rows and say hi to my Aunt Barbra (who actually passed away last year) and Uncle Gerry. They’re sitting with Grammie and Pop-Pop. I go to hug Uncle Gerry when I glance down and notice that he’s not only in a wheelchair (not in real life), but he also has nubs for legs that look like raw chicken thighs. It grosses me out a lot, but I try not to react. I think about how his body reminds me of Jimmy Neutron when he switches bodies with his hamster.
