Late Papa

In a friends house. Upstairs, it looks like the basement at my grandparents house. My (late) grandfather is sitting a cross the room from me. He’s not really with it. Says it’s a nice house. I tell him he used to live here. He’s confused and gets excited and says “I live here?!” “No no Papa, you used to live here. You don’t anymore.” He’s suddenly incredibly clear, and solemn. His eyes tear up. “Why would you tell me that? Why tell me something good just to remind me I don’t have it anymore?” He’s upset with me and I feel a deep guilt. Should I not have said anything?
