he was living in my house

my family and i went out to eat I think, and I saw J (the guy I like) and I talked to him, somehow in the middle of our conversation he brought up that he was having family problems. I talked to my family and they let him stay with us cause it seemed like he really needed it. The whole time he stayed with us I didn’t try to “get at him” I mostly protected him even though I’m this small person who’s two years younger than him. I don’t know, I thought it was nice and people around us were confused when they saw us together almost all the time
