Swimming

I am visiting a small Asian country (Singapore?) and my guide takes me to a lake. She tells me that I shouldn't drink the water nor swim in it directly, but invites me out onto plastic platforms for a better view. I can't make the jump and fall in - she treats it as minor but will not come in the water to help. It takes many tries to climb up.
