There were fireflies fluttering about and little dragonflies skipping along the water. All was quiet, the only sounds were mine as I walked along the lush grass. I walked up slowly to the whispering pond of the silent forest. All was quiet. I skipped a stone and the sounds echoed. The pond quivered. A lump of moss and toadstools rose and looked at me with drooping eyes. It's eyes were deep and empty, with a faded yellow glow. It walked forward. I backed away slowly and stared. It's tongue jut out at me and stabbed me in the abdomen. Then lifted me into the skies. I grabbed onto its tongue despite the nasty feeling of its spit. While in midair it looked at me and told me to let go. After a while in the air, he put his tongue back in and I fell. I hit the ground and was only softened by the dead grass. Before leaving, the moss creature told me to run. The forest was no longer beautiful. The trees were dead and there was no life to be seen. Accept for a little smiling Jack-O-Lantern staring at me. It was standing in plain sight. Then I blacked out.
