It was a SciFi setting, Earth was finally able to build a mothership they called The Hub that could wander through space at a slow pace orbiting certain solar systems. It was the size of a small mall and had mini shops and cantines in there like one too. The Hub had temp accommodation however and accommodation for the workers, the difference being the workers had more wardrobe space per person but had to share a room with 3-5 other pod beds. The walls and floors were metal and grey and the thin doors lifted up automatically. People were mostly human but some walked around like they belonged on the set of Star Wars. One of the main Captains was an alien, she had a bluish purple skin, large forehead and yellow cat eyes, she was quite pretty. You knew she was a captain cause she wore a tight white jumpsuit. The visitors could wear what they liked. I must've worked on the Hub cause I wore grey tight trousers with a lighter grey top with a zip down the middle and a deep red strip down one side. The material clung to the skin and almost felt scaly, I had a belt with things on it around my waist too. Other people had the exact same outfit so it must be the worker uniform. I didn't work though, I went around exploring, mainly the cabins and below deck. I met a "friend" co-worker who seemed nice, a little nerdy but nice. She seemed way too excited about something. She left me in my shared cabin to tidy some clothes away, hers was opposite our cabin. I noticed under some clothing there was a foreign looking worm caterpillar thing? It was an off-white colour and looked saggy and gross. The eyes were smaller than a caterpillar as the space was taken up by a massive mouth with lots of teeth arranged in a circle like a leech. Well I stood on it. And that was that I guess, must've snuck onboard somehow. But I knew, you see one bug there's many more. I cleared my floor and found one more which I squished. I looked through the cabins and found nothing, these bugs are slow moving so can't migrate very far. Was the source my room? I came full circle to stand outside my door and turned to see my friend's door. I knocked of course, no answer, she's normally in her room, she's smart but she's not a great worker. I opened the door to see her on the floor dazed. I threw myself down to her asking if she was ok. She mumbled something before opening her eyes wide shocked anyone had come in. Why? She had roommates like everyone else. I held her into a sitting position from behind and noticed her wrists had three alien worms attached to her. "What the heck are you doing?!" I yelled and plucked them all from her skin and gave them two seconds of scared wriggling before my boot crushed them. Their insides were pinker than the others I took care of. My friend gained more consciousness and asked why I did that. I was in frustrated confusion and explained to her in a strained voice that they're parasites and would've killed her! They're a threat to this whole Hub. She perked up and said "No they're the savoir" I stayed silent and she readjusted her glasses. She explained she found a way to harvest energy from these creatures, enough to power the Hub, and it was renewable. I looked at her crazy. She told me to look and pointed behind me. I backed away closer to her and fell to the floor. There were maybe 40, 50 worms, all attached to a red wire, their bodies glowed in strips a neon pink. I looked closer. ... Those aren't wires. ... That's a circulatory system. They're feeding on someone's arteries and veins. I looked at the monster next to me in disgust. She kept looking at the creatures with a solemn look on her face. "I had to... They need a source big enough to keep them feeding long enough to produce power" This is wrong. This is so wrong. I had to tell someone, the threats that the Hub faces, not only a bloodthirsty parasite but a bloodthirsty killer too. I clambered to my feet and woke up.
