I was hanging around this retrofuturistic city, driving a mint green Karmann-Ghia. The place and the people, they matched perfectly, both in style and aggressive, yet beautiful looks. There were a lot of train lines in every direction. The aerotrain caught my attention the most. I remember being so proud of my car, with those shiny smoothie wheels making people turn their heads. I heard about this reality show, as if it was being played on big screens, outdoor like, everywhere in the city. People were almost forced to watch it. And of course, they loved it and couldn't stop talking about it while on air. But something got me really curious. A good-looking guy from the show said something that to me, specifically, felt pretty enigmatic and intriguing. It was something about my wife, Rafaela. As if she cheated on me. I tried to make sense of it. Maybe it was my interpretation, or I heard it wrong. At that moment, I felt like everything had changed, for the worse. The world around me felt hostile and unfair. I noticed people looking at me and giggling with themselves. Walking down the street, I encountered my venezuelan friend, Elvin, who called me to drink a cold beer. We used an escalator and reached this crowded area where you could overview the city. People were hanging out, drinking and socializing. I barely started chatting with Elvin when another friend interrupted us. The beer was pretty good, tho. Melque showed up just to whisper to me something like this: "You still hangin' with this guy? Rafaela cheated on you with him!". Afterward, he smiled maliciously, like he always does when people around him get in a bad situation. I said to him: "That cannot be. They're not even close to each other. " He replied, saying that the guy was my neighbor. When I looked back at Elvin, I really felt like we were neighbors for at least ten years. I could picture him waving to me from the other side of the street. The devastation took control of me, I felt like all of that was the absolute truth, but still, I had to find out. Then my wife called me, and she desperately said that an alert was issued about a fatal meteor rain falling on a 60 km radius, involving the whole city and its surroundings. I ran as fast as I could to my car, and then I picked Rafaela up. The plan was simple, let's leave the city and drive as far as we could. I was already on the industrial part of the city, could only see buildings like storages and factories when I looked on the car's panel, and the gas indicator was really low. I said to her: "I'm low on gas, and there's no stations around. Maybe we should just stop. That issue was probably a scam." She said no, we should keep moving, so I did. Further on, I looked to the sky, a mesmerizing starry night. so beautiful. But then, a little star started shining way too much, and then another, and another. They were getting so bright! That's the moment I realized it. Those weren't stars, the meteors falling was real. Desperation took me over, and I started driving as fast as I could to leave that blasting radius. Rafaela wouldn't stop screaming, and that only made me more nervous. The lights on the sky were guiding me. Whenever I saw one getting too close, I tried driving away from it, and each time, the blast could be heard louder and louder. That hurry led me to ignore the roads and just drive anywhere possible. So I went through irregular terrains with lots of debris, and the car probably wouldn't come handy anymore. The car got stuck, so we left it and went on foot. We had to pass through the interiors of this empty factory, and I knew at that moment that we wouldn't escape the next impact. The factory got hit, and we could hear the structure falling apart. The destruction was echoing, slowly announcing our fate, so it seemed. Somehow, we survived and managed to leave the ruined factory. I looked to the sky once more, but this time, I was furiously asking why, why all of that was happening. The event has ended. I went back to the car. The vehicle was in bad conditions, so we went back downtown to find some help fixing it, among other things. To my surprise, the city resisted pretty well. At least on that street I was walking by, I couldn't see buildings in ruins or dead victims, but some people were injured, and the event was the talk of the town, though. Someone said to look out, and I looked behind me and got jumpscared by a zombie. Then I said, "Great, the apocalypse never ends." But it turned out that the zombie was actually just a guy in a costume playing some weird public attraction. He gave me a katana and said with a zombie voice: "Ki.. kill mee ehhh. " That got me so annoyed that I just replied: "I found out my wife has been cheating on me, and I managed to save her and myself from gigantic stones falling straight from outer space! I'm about to kill myself, not you!"
