The Prosperer's Law

I had this dream when I was nine. It is the most realistic and vivid dream I've ever had - so real that after it happened I had to check with my parents to make sure. The dream took place over the course of several days. Strange things started happening to me. I would put a CD in my boombox (yes, boomboxes were still cool at this point) and instead of playing the tracks, static and faint whispering would come from the speakers. I'd immediately shut it off, scared. I'd be laying in bed and suddenly an invisible foot would come up through the mattress and kick me high up in the air. I'd try to sleep on the floor but even there invisible limbs would emerge from beneath the carpet and touch me. Whenever I was left alone with my thoughts, I suddenly wasn't alone with my thoughts. There were people talking in my head - talking to each other, talking to me, occasionally fading in and out. I couldn't make out a word of it, but they seemed to be inviting me in. I didn't know whether to be intrigued or terrified. After several of these bizarre occurrences my parents sat me down to have a talk. They told me that I was part of a long lineage of people with a special gift that allowed them to connect and communicate with a small society in another dimension; this society was called "The Prosperer's Law" (in the dream the word "law" was synonymous with "society", as is it used in the term "honor society"). It was essentially a group of maybe 9-12 enlightened people (though you couldn't exactly call them people, for they were immortal and existed in a different realm, unbeknownst to nearly all of mankind) who acted as guides and guardians for those who could communicate with them, setting them on a path toward enlightenment - or as they called it, prosperity. Now that I had come of age, my parents told me, this group would begin reaching out to me. All the strange events of the past couple of weeks had been their attempts at forging a connection. My parents assured me that while their methods of outreach could be frightening, they were benevolent and would serve as my protectors and shepherds throughout my life until I was prepared to join them. Reassured that there was nothing to fear, I went and laid down on my bed, closed my eyes, and silenced my thoughts. Sure enough, I heard the voices again. I could distinguish them now - a gentle old woman, a blustering man, a couple of people who sounded to be in their twenties. This time I didn't try to block them out. I relaxed and tuned in as best I could, and eventually, as the old woman began speaking to me, I understood her. I exchanged a few cordial words with her in my mind, and she started giving me step-by-step instructions. I obeyed, not knowing why. Suddenly I felt myself leave my body, and I was transported to a white empty space that seemed to have no end and no beginning. And then I saw them. All standing there in a row, smiling warmly, offering words and gestures of welcome. I noticed that they were all French. They spoke English, but they had French names and what I assumed were French accents. The gentle old woman seemed to be the matriarchal head of the group. She explained to me that each member represented a different virtue, trait, or characteristic. Antoinette, one of the young people I had heard before, stood for adventure and curiosity. Jacques, the gruff man, stood for diligence and steadfastness. The old woman herself (whose name escaped me long ago) stood for wisdom and compassion. I can't remember any details about any of the others. If you made it this far in the reading, congratulations and a big thank you. I've had this in the back of my mind for years and have yet to share it until now.
