Look him up on Facebook

My mom is getting mad at me for going slow. We are getting ready to leave and she wants me to hurry. I finally get to the living room to find her on the couch with some small book open in the middle and face down on her knee and the laptop in her hands. She is reading aloud the pledge of allegiance and the book is some sort of study guide for it. I’m a little worried about her as she seems to have completely forgotten wanting to leave and when I tell her I’m ready she doesn’t really seem to notice me. I begin worrying that maybe it’s Alzheimer’s or something and am nearly crying looking at my mother sitting on the couch who perhaps does not even know me anymore. I climb over the back of the couch, sit to the left of her with my arm around her back and tell her I love her. She responds with “this is going to sound weird but.. LOOK HIM UP ON FACEBOOK!” Her head shoots to the right with her eyes closed tight and she begins screaming at the top of her lungs not a constant scream but a scream with each quick breath “AAAH AAAH AAAH AAAH” fear shoots through my body as I’m trying to figure out what my mother, who seems to have lost her mind, is even taking about. I look first to the laptop where there is a small picture of a really old man who looks like he isn’t doing too well and may have a black eye. The picture is on top of what is already set as the wallpaper of the computer but is indeed now part of the wallpaper. This worries me even more but I then realize that she’s talking about a man outside in the dark with only his glowing eyes visible, staring in at us. Between getting on the couch and looking out the window, it only takes a split second.
