Cannibalism Attack

Date: 5/18/2018

By Amia

I was an 18 year old girl just trying to survive out in society, pretty normal. One day, I hear an emergency alert on the TV! It begins reading, "Do not go outside. Do not go outside. Lock all your doors and begin blocking your windows. Grab a nearby weapon, don't let anybody inside. If your family is with you then supply them with a weapon as well. There are cannibals eating people they first see and those bitten will also be affected. If you see one of these, kill it immediately! Be safe, everyone." The power shuts off in the whole state, note that it's around 2 pm. I start panicking since I was living alone, not wanting to believe what I just heard. I lock the doors and board up windows from leftover wood I had when building. I overhear outside a father and his 7 year old son screaming, "Help!". The TV told me not to let anyone inside but I could not let them die out there. I unlock my front door and yell, "Get in quickly!". I see other human-like people slowly walking towards my door. Their eyes were clear and they looked weak. I see one of them grab a lady, who was trying to protect others, and bite into her shoulder. They ripped her to shreds! The father and son ran inside and I lock the door again. I ask them if they were bitten and the father replies, "No, they didn't touch us. I just don't understand what has been going on!" I was also very confused at the moment. I supply the man with a butcher knife and I had a gun that was locked away in case of emergency. "Sorry, it was the only weapon I had." I pull out candles for later, when it gets dark. I introduce myself, "I'm Amia, you?" He says, "My name is Russell and this is Junior." I wave at Junior, he waves back shyly. **NIGHT** Russell gets Junior ready for bed on the couch, we agreed to not let anyone be alone in case of break-ins from raiders. We lit the candles so we could see better, making sure it didn't shine through the boards. We did not hear any sounds of those.. let's call them.. walkers during the night. Maybe people killed them all for now. I hear a knock at the door. Russell and Junior were sound asleep. (My house had two couches) I get up from my chair and peek outside, there's a blonde man outside. He says, "Delivery for House 102, Delivery!" I know damn well we didn't order pizza. I couldn't see his hands so I open the quickly, holding my gun behind my back. "Yes, sir? I didn't order any pizz-" He pushes me to the side and shuts the door. "Where's your supplies?!" I look at him, he was crazy. I shoot him in the back as soon as he starts taking our things. He turns around and then falls to his death. Russell and Junior wake up to see the dead guy on the ground. He covers Junior's eyes and says, "What the hell, Amia?!" I tell him what happened and ask, "Can you help me throw him in the basement?" I take Russell's knife and stab his brain so he can't become one of those. Russell grabs his shoulders and I grab his legs, tossing him down the stairs. We shut the door and put one board across it so if he does, he can't open it anyway. We sigh and Russell tries to get Junior back to bed. I rest my eyes. **NEXT DAY** Russell wakes me up and tells me, "Amia, thanks so much for the stay. Junior and I have to leave to find his mother. We left her at the house when we went looking around town for flowers and I can't contact her. We'll be safe, I promise." I hand them my gun and say, "Take this, you'll need it." He smiles and makes sure the coast is clear. He takes Junior on his back and runs outside to safety. I lock the door, hoping they'll be safe. **COUPLES DAY LATER** I'm running out of food, I didn't have much stacked up before all this happened. I thought, "I should go out and see if anybody has some." I have no weapon at this point so I make sure to avoid the walkers. I felt like I was walking for days. I finally see a well built fence surrounding buildings. I go up to the security where they make sure walkers don't come in. I yell, "I'm not a walker, don't shoot! I was wondering if you had any food... I'll be gone afterwards." They laugh and call in someone. I was grabbed from behind and knocked out. I wake up, tied, and see a man who was wearing a biker jacket. He says, "Good morning, who are you?" I say, "Where am I? Oh.. I'm A-Amia" He chuckles lightly and begins questioning me. "Why were you sent here?" I look around and notice other people beside me. One was even wearing a biker jacket but in a different color. Maybe enemies?! "I wasn't sent here, sir. I asked your security if I could have some food. I guess I shouldn't have asked..." "Where did you come from then?" "A little town with row homes, House 102." "Oh, that neighborhood. I sent one of my people down there and asked to deliver pizza. He hasn't came back." "Him?! He tried to steal my supplies and had no pizza with him." "Really? We don't steal in this community, we borrow." "Borrowing is asking." "Did he ask?" "Well.. yeah bu--" "Then it's borrowing whether you say yes or no." "Why am I locked up here?" "I can't trust any humans, you shouldn't either. My security could've killed you." "I know but I'm starving, I was willing to do anything." "Anything? Shoot this guy." He points at the guy with the blue biker jacket, the guy's security and all his crew had red jackets on: "Give me a gun..." He hands me a gun and lets me free, calling in his guards to watch over me. "Don't do anything stupid with that gun." I make sure it's loaded and off of safe mode. I point it at the guy tied up. "I'm sorry..." I turn around quickly and duck, the guards aims miss while I shoot them both. The man in charge yells, "Everyone, get her!" I untie everyone there and we run out together. I grabbed the guard's guns and handed one to the blue biker guys. I was shooting people who had guns. We escaped and took some supplies while at it, they were in duffel bags. All the people tied up hid in a house nearby, locking the doors. I tell them, "Who are they?! Why were you guys locked up?" The blue biker guy says, "I'm Duncan, you should calm down. We don't associate with that crew. They said we stole from them yesterday when we didn't. They just want to cause trouble with everyone, an excuse to kill. They're murderers." I chose to believe him, he seemed knowledgeable. The other people tied up had left without hesitation, only one girl sticking around. She says, "Hi, I'm Veronica. I heard your name was Amia, cute. I asked them if they had any ammo and they just locked me up without a word. Luckily, you're a badass and saved me. I owe ya." I sigh and sit down on a couch. I say, "I bet they're going to come look for us since we stole their supplies." They nod and peek outside. Veronica replies, "They have motorcycles and tons of teammates so our chances of staying alive are 20%. I'd rather get eaten by these cannibals." I make light of the situation. "It's not that bad, I hope we make it out though. Could we kill them?" Duncan joins in the conversation, "Yeah, killing 100's of people... right." I say, "How'd they gather so many people in almost a week?" "They're desperate to survive. They obey Ken's power because he 'knows everything'. It's hilarious!" "Hmm... Do you guys know how this all started?" Veronica laughs at my question, "You don't know? Some dumb scientist was messing around with a corpse and brought him back to life but the corpse ate the scientist. It was pretty nasty and then it kept spreading." I shiver in fear and rest my case, "I'm exhausted, I'm going to bed." They comply and I rest for once. **HOURS LATER** Everyone wakes up to Ken's yelling, "FIND THEM! They took our stuff! Don't let them escape, they're in one of these houses!" We all grab the duffel and hide it, getting our guns ready for action. They shoot at the door handle and get it open. People start piling in and looking for us. Veronica pops out of no where with Duncan and begins shooting them. I decide to help and shoot people near the window. Ken continues to yell, "House 657! Be better at aim, they're killing everyone!" I hear Ken start running back to their base with the leftover crew that didn't get shot. We catch our breaths from how intense that was. Veronica says, "He'll bring more, we have to leave now." We run until we're not in sight. Duncan says, "Let's get out of town." Veronica and I agree with that, the three of us running out for our lives. (I woke up and went back to sleep, this is the next part of the dream) It's been a while, we've been on and off of Ken's radar. They found us a couple days ago but we managed to kill them all again. The walkers were still there, getting worse. I was sleeping, thinking of what would happen if we didn't escape. I wake up to a gunshot, nothing new. Duncan and I have been flirting non-stop. We decided to get a little dirty when it was Veronica's turn to get as much as she could from a shop nearby. After our business... Duncan and I wanted to make it official. Veronica came back to the house and we told her, she was super happy for us. "Congrats! I knew it would happen sooner or later." **A MONTH LATER** Veronica and I were going through our supplies, noticing that stuff was missing. We question each other but it doesn't lead to anything. We gasp, knowing it was Duncan who was stealing. We go in the room to see a note. It reads, "I'm sorry. I can't keep living like this, we're always fighting Ken's team. I have to do this. Don't look for me. - Ducan" I start crying. I didn't know what my boyfriend or.. ex was doing with himself. Veronica hugs me tightly and says, "It'll be okay, we don't need him!" She's right, we can fight on our own. **5 MONTHS LATER** (My dreams tend to skip things) Veronica and I haven't been searched for by Ken's crew. We were living happily besides the walkers trying to eat us 24/7. We still didn't hear from Duncan, it always made me upset to think about how we left us like that. I was feeling really weak lately and I've had stomach cramps a LOT. I was also puking. Veronica noticed and she sat me down, "Amia, are you pregnant?" I looked at her in shock and say, "Why would you think that? I don't think I am!" She hands me a pregnancy test that she got when taking everything from a store. "Take it, we need to know." I think she's crazy but just to prove her wrong, I took it. I sat it on the table and we waited. It comes out positive. We sit there in shock, I knew I wasn't getting fat from eating too much. Veronica sighs, "You can't fight anymore. We can't keep going out. What if Ken finds you and shoots you?!" I understand where she's coming from. "Well, when I have the baby and something happens to me later on. I want you to be his or her mother. I hand her a map with a stack of money and point to an exit of the state. "Get out of here and get a plane ticket out the country with this money I collected up. If I'm along with it, we can do it together." She hugs me tightly, "I won't let anything bad happen to you." **3 MONTHS LATER** I've already had the baby and it was a girl, we named her Ava. Veronica and I had been finding the stuff she needs in stores we scavenged over months. Still no word from Duncan, I knew it was his baby though. Veronica was with Ava in the kitchen and I told her that I was going to go outside. She said, "Be safe, call if you need help!" I laugh and reply, "No, if I call for help then you take Ava and do what our plan was a while ago." The only reason we stayed was because we wanted to make sure it was safe to run so we had been building up fences to keep walkers out. I run outside and start killing walkers that got inside. I found a machete in the house we had been living in and used it instead of a gun, it didn't draw noise. I was slicing walker's heads off when all of a sudden, I feel a sharp pain in my stomach. It repeated three times until I fell down on the ground. It hurt badly. I started yelling for help. I could hear Veronica shuffle to get things and headed out the back door. She wanted to help but I told her before to not. I would forgive her. I saw Duncan right before falling. He joined Ken. I had a photo of Ava and me in my pocket that I took from someone's polaroid camera. Ken picks it up and shows it to the crew. "She had a daughter while she was missing! What a cutie! I wonder where she went." I knew I was dead. I couldn't move or say anything. I just saw darkness and heard everything they were saying. Duncan runs up to me as Ken's crew began to leave. He says, "Amia.. Was that our daughter? I'm so sorry... I never wanted this to happen. Wake up, please." He kept shaking me but no response. He tears up and leaves one Ken said, "Come on, Duncan!" It was a sad ending for me but I hoped Ava and Veronica were safe.
