I know there was some lead up to what I remember, but I don't remember what it was. We were in my husband's car, him driving, me in the passenger seat, and the kids in the back. There was somewhere we needed to go, somewhere important to me, but he wanted to run by Kroger first. I figured a quick run in, so I was okay with it. However, he started driving in a strange direction, and I had no idea what was going on. We kept driving. On and on and on. Finally, he let me know that we were going to a specific Kroger in Grand Rapids. I was livid, because Grand Rapids is several hours away, and we needed to be at whatever it was at a specific time. It didn't matter to him, though, so on we drove. After a while, it turned into a bridge nightmare, with surreal Tim Burtonesque bridges that were too high and not the right shape. I was panicking, but there was nowhere I could go. No escape to safety. While we drove, I was going through some papers in the front seat. I was just straightening them up, but one caught my eye. It was the paper equivalent of a dating app. Before I could say anything or even ask about it, he was telling me about this cute chick he'd met. A few days ago when he'd been running late, it was because she had needed something specific to the Kroger in Grand Rapids so he had taken her there, and he was returning there in the hopes of running into her again as he decided he wanted to attempt to move forward with the relationship. We were still on the bridge, and there was nothing I could do. I was trapped and hurt and despite being in a car full of people, I had never felt so alone.
