Lost in space

I live on a spaceship. We go down to the surface of a planet we dont know about to find stuff out about it. We find out that theres a barrier on the planet we cant cross, and a pad at the bottom of the ladder that blows up if you land in it too hard. After that, a large portion of the crew falls asleep. When they wake up, they have forgotten everything about the planet. We are having a meeting about telling the previously sleeping crew about the planet again, when a robot comes and kills the science officer whose brother is in the room with us. One person had a shapeshifting hat that he can summon by whistling and can somehow be used as a weapon. We all run to see what happened.
