My friend M and I went over to my aunt and uncle’s for Thanksgiving dinner. For some reason they didn’t pay much attention to us at all. They only talked for us for 20 minutes and then they were like “Ok, it’s time to go. We’re too busy to drive you back, but we got these two truckers who said they’d help you because they’re headed the same way.” We walked up to the two big rigs. I asked “Uh, can’t we both ride in the same big rig?” My aunt was like “No, there’s not room. One of you will go with each of the drivers.” I was scared of going alone with the trucker. It would be a 6 hour (?!) drive from Chicago back to LA. While I was thinking about it, the truckers drove away. A family friend of my aunt and uncle’s agreed to drive us instead since she felt bad for us. Me and my friend both agreed to give her whatever cash we had in our pockets for driving us and felt guilty. On the way we stopped at a thrift shop where I found a craft coaster that I made as a child and signed, and it was super trippy.
